Anyone else had a letter from VOSA? Got a letter today saying the following:

Dear Customer,
On a number of Fiat 500, Grande Punto Sound and Punto Evo vehicles there is a possibility that in the event of a side impact the side Air Bags could activate inconsistently with the impact side. As this could affect safety, you are requested to make the earliest possible appointment with a Fiat dealer to check your vehicle and carry out any necessary rectification. This work will be carried out without charge.

Found the last bit quite funny, "without charge". I should bloody hope so too!

Can't see anything on the VOSA website though.

No but mine's only two weeks old. Hopefully they may of already sorted it.

I haven't had a letter yet, but when I took mine in about a month ago to get the headlight alignment checked and a creaking clutch pedal fixed, the garage at PDH Findon said there was an outstanding safety recall for the airbags, and they did that as well while I was waiting. I was pleased firstly that they bothered to check and secondly they did it without me having to book it in again. (An excellent garage!)

I know mistakes happen, but surely this is quite a major cock-up? As far as I can make out from the letter, if someone hits you side-on, the opposite side airbag will open. With the amount of checks and testing cars have to go through before being released, I'm shocked this wasn't picked up.

I've not had my letter yet but when i took it into the garage for some other work, they did it there and then for me and told me about the recall!

I'm also told that they are having them in again for condensation on the inside of the rear lights. Mines booked in next week for this but i don't believe it will be a recall. I imagine it'll only be done when the car's are booked in for servicing/warranty work etc seeing as it's not a safety issue.

VOSA are too busy sitting on motorway slip roads eating buns, forget the VOSA site if you want recall info for Fiats find it here first! Which it already is and has been for months if you looked.

Oh this has already been posted somewhere has it?

Got mine checked out today. Took about 40 minutes. Seems to be to do with electronics rather than having to change anything physical - but I'm no engineer!

well i just checked on vosa and my vin falls into the recall vehicles but no letter yet will just book it in to have it done the cars only 1.5 months old and the fault was known before i took delivery
