Hi all,
Is it possible to disable S&S system at all or change its default status to off ? My Evo has Dualogic gearbox and hillholder. It seems that hillholder function does not work when S&S is on at slope. I mean when the engine halts at slope and then I want to move off, releasing the break pedal at that moment tends the car to back.
Best Regards.
Selcuk.

No you cannot set the default status to off... wish you could though!
Best you can do is turn it off via the button on the dash each time you start the engine.:(

Thanks for your reply. While searching S&S function with Hill Holder, I have encountered to an Alfa Romeo model which has a slope detector, in this way it automatically disables S&S functionaly at slopes. Very cleverly solution !

My dealer didn't want to switch off the Start&Stop, however on the demo car I drove before I got my Evo, it was disabled.

So in theory, it can be switched off for good. But I'm sure Fiat may invalidate the warranty if you found out how!

If you have know how it is possible to disable a start stop system with no visable fault codes. but i wouldnt advise it.

Wouldn't mind turning mine off for good as well I don't really need it apart from one road on my daily drive.

Thankfully the start-stop system uses a specific type of battery and electrical setup with the alternator only operating when needed. So these cars are designed with repeated starting and stopping in mind so it shouldn't do any harm with it left on.

Mine doesn't seem to stop start at all! it doesn't say its turned off, Do you i need to do anything to activate it because the car is brand new?

Try the button on the dash above the stereo. If you press it your display should read 'start stop' then 'disconnected' if you turn it off. By default it is turned on when you start the car, or it should be!

I have tried that but it did nothing, how strange will speak to fiat 2morro thanks anyway

I have been down at the dealer this morning the car is booked in for next week, on my way home the stop start has started working but they are still taking it in to check it over!

If the car is brand new battery needs to be fully charged for stop start to work.
Our sales man said up to a week depending on the state of the battery when car arrives at dealer, or the mileage you put on car. (y)

Yeah fiat said the same thing but he said it should still be telling me that it is unavailable instead of just doing nothing

I think the stopstart system monitors batery usage and levels too - Ive noticed mine tells me its 'unavailable' when Im using the heater blowers.. if you have too much electrials switched on it seems to decide that its not a good iea switchign the engine off... makes sense as if you are sitting in a very long queue of traffic for a good while and your enine is off, yet you have the car header, lights, radio, etc all switched on - I guess you are draining the hell out your battery with no engine running to recharge it?

at first I was wanting to switch this off as I didnt like the idea particuarly - but now Im used to it , it very varely has cause to operate anyway.

I wish there was a way to turn it off by default.

Had car since march and even now the S&S trips me up, some times its because I want to make a quick get away & end up stalling/restarting/revving away, other times I can be patient, watch the engine turn on, watch the rev meter rise/settle, accelerate, car hesitates & feels borderline-stall then sets off while people behind are thinking "wtf is this guy doing?" ... only 3-4 seconds, but its still 3-4 seconds your trying to pull away from the lights & your thinking "Oh **** i'm going to stall..."

Don't think i'll be buying a car with S&S again, for the most part its good but you cant risk building up any trust in the thing cause it'll crap out on you.
