General Garrett Turbo on Evo

General Garrett Turbo on Evo

Anyone else noticed that the standard turbo fitted on the evo sporting is a Garrett turbo :yum:

Just wondering if the turbo has a model number on the standard sporting ? I'm interested to read up the technical info on the Garrett website! :)

Got an older Abarth, they dont use the Garrett, its a IHI V37 turbo instead of the IHI V36 or something like that.
You've got an Abarth!... nice!:worship: Have you worn out the "Sport" button yet
I tried to get one before I opted for the Evo Sporting, but I could'nt get hold of one in the time-scale I had. Arnold Clark tried to sell me a 500 Abarth but it was just too small, and that was even compared to my 100HP Panda

Punto Evo and Bravo (2010 model) Tjet models now have what I used to call the Abarth Grande Punto Esseesse manifold and a Garrett Turbo similar in design to the Esseesse (probably not quite as much go).

Abarth Punto Evo is using the Abarth GP Esseesse turbo.

Yeah check my garage for pics :)

My grande punto 1.9 sporting has a garrett, 100,400 happy miles so far (y)

So if the turbos are the same on both the 135 sporting and the APE, then what is the difference on the 2 engines to produce different power outputs? Is there any hardware differences or is it all related to engine management software?

Thanks

Ian :)

Definitely something which many people would like to know

To be honest I don’t know what engine differences there are between the Sporting Evo & the Abarth version either. I would imagine that there will be a few though!
However when you take into account the fact that the Sporting runs 135BHP and the Abarth version runs 165BHP then remapping the sporting (if that option becomes available) should bring you in at the Abarths BHP figure I would have thought. (y)

I do think (or hope) that the handling of the Abarth Evo will be much improved though.

Just to jump in, In regards to re-map for anyone interested www.tmcmotorsport.com offer an tuning box compatible with the Evo Multi-Airs :) Here my original email:-

"Good Afternoon, Im a member of fiatforum.com and wondered if there is/or to be a tuning box for the new Fiat Punto Evo Sporting 135HP? With the engines being a Multiair ive not seen products available as of yet."
Reply:-
"Hi, we have tested the box on the new Punto Abarth Multi Air and it works superbly. It will also work fine on yours.
Kind regards / Daron
