Well if you have been following my posts then you will know the problems I have been having trying to get a new Punto Evo Sporting. Well Finally I got a phone call last week to say the car is now in the garage. Yay I think finally. So, having been away till last night, I went in today to sigh the agreement. However on looking at it I almost dropped when I noticed that the Style pack and the Visibility pack were not on it.

I couldn't believe it. The salesman tried to assure me that it was but when he looked at it there wasn't really anything he could say. Its been a total cock up from start to finish.

The Sales manager basically told me that I had 2 choices, I could take it as it is or cancel the order and they would give me my old car back. Very nice of him.

I dunno what to do now. I seriously think they want me to cancel as I think the original salesman gave me a deal that they are not making money from.

After calming down and thinking about it I think I might take it as it is. With the difference between my settlement from before and now and the difference of what has not been included I am gonna have £1140 of a difference from the previous agreement. this works out at £23.75 a month over the 4 years bringing my monthly payments down to £212. They have maintained the trade in price of £6000 which is excellent.

My thinking is I can live without the visibility pack as nice as it would have been. I can get the windows tinted myself and I painted the calipers on my last Grande myself so that would mean the outside would look the same anyway.

I have an acoustic parcel shelf with a pair of heavy duty Pioneer speakers on it and a pair of Pioneers for the front, that I took out my old car. This, if I put them in to the new one, would make a big improvement to the sound quality. The only thing is its a major pain in the A*** to take all the panels off to get into the speakers. Also they never seem to really go back on as well as they came off.

I just wish I didn't have to go through all this hastle because, once again, they have got it wrong.

What do you think?

Well I am sorry to hear that. Sheesh.

Just a thought, but you do still sign a contract in the UK when purchasing a car? The original order that they place with Fiat, detailing the car + extras, price, etc, that you sign along with the dealer?

Because if you do, that was YOUR order and must be what is delivered. If they try to fob you off because they screwed the order up, that's their fault.

I don't know how binding it is the UK anymore, here in Denmark it's binding. Even verbal contracts are binding. But even if it's not binding under UK law, it's not the order you placed. ie. the goods you purchased are not as "described" under UK rules. You have a right to demand what you ordered. If you have a copy of your order agreement, then it's a very clear case.

I think you have a rather good arguement against the dealer in this matter. But I can see the temptation of just taking what they got. Personally, I wouldn't take it as it's not what I ordered.

Take it first back to the dealer and if they still won't play ball, take this further with Fiat UK.

Frankly, for all the hassle this dealer has caused, I would also push for compensation. ie. a further discount for time & hassle caused by them.

Here's hoping you get a quick resolution over this. (y)

I agree with Miura,

I dont know your rights etc, but sounds like they've royally ****ed up & if you've got a receipt saying your ordered the extras then thats what they'll have to supply..... and given all the hastle you've had with em id certainly want compensation.

I'm sure they can fit the packs themselves, just not willing to as it'd cost them, you've waited months for this... the least they can do is get it bloody right, no point waiting another few months now.

Well ended up taking it as is and they are going to tint the windows and paint the brake calipers. My original deal was for the Sporting with only the Style pack and I would have been paying £235 p/m for 48 mths with a final payment of £4436. They have brought it down lower than I had calculated minus the difference in final payment on my old car and minus the extras that weren't there. I will now be paying £206 p/m over 42 months.

He has also given me a 3 service plan for £120 rather than their usual £249 which is only £40 per service so can't beat that. they quoted me £120 to change the front speakers over and connect up the rear acoustic parcel shelf I have to the rears. It was a nightmare and a lot of hard work to change them over myself so think I will get them to do that. Also if they cause any damage then its there problem. Anytime I took the panels off they never went back on correctly and usually ended up with broken or bent locator pins.

So perhaps in the long run it has worked out not too bad.
