Sometimes when i get into my car the Digital Display in between the rev counter and speedo doesn't light up. Takes a couple of tries turning the key on and off to get it to work. Also i have found opening the door and closing it helps . Has anyone else had this problem, will be taking it back to the dealer to get it sorted. Also the cubby hole underneath the menu button has broken several times. Not a very good design. It is a Punto Evo 1.4 8v Dynamique.

The display problem ive not heard of before, so id guess its a unique case.

The cubby hole however is a known fault the majority of us have had that problem, dealership will fix it np.

Not had any problems like that with my display. Best to get it back to your dealer.

Yes that little coin holder on the RHD cars seems to be faulty quite a bit. My LHD is fine, but then it is a different dash obviously.

Also check the flip up lid in the top of the dash, that seems to be a common problem as well.

Had my cubby hole fixed by my dealer on Friday. Said it was a Fiat approved "fix" , which I think may only of consisted of putting a couple of screws in the hinge of the pocket, rather than relying on the springy nature of the plastic to hold it in place. Took about half an hour while I waited. Seems to be OK now.

This reminds me of a similar-ish problem I had with my 2004 Punto Active Sport when it was new.

A couple of times when driving at night the digital display, headlights and instrument backlights all turned off for a second or so. Even the trip counter reset itself. Can't remember if the engine cut out.

The garage took a few days before they could repeat the problem, and it turned out to be a loose earthing cable. They fixed that and it never did it again in the 2 years I had it.

I wonder if yours has a similar loose connection hence the physical movement of opening and closing a door jars it into place? Just an idea...!

Thanks for replying to my first message guys . I will be taking the car back to the Dealer this week to get the dispaly looked at. Shame it only happens sometimes, you can bet the day i take it the display will work fine.
The cubby hole has been repaired once , i watched the engineer do the repair. They have to take that whole panel of and put the cubby hole back in from behind. It has happened since and i have put it back together myself but there is a definite design fault. There is not enough plastic on the lugs of the hinge so whenever i use it they pop out. Will have to see if the garage can do something about it as it is annoying the hell out of me...

I've got this same issue in punto evo 1,3 multijet 2010 year. No digits, dark display. Not improved yet.
