Technical Punto Evo Sporting - Steering Problem?

Well no one else I have spoken to seems to have ever heard of this so dunno. I doubt I will be sitting in the car for a few minutes every time I stop it.

 You dont have to, but it pays to read other peoples Posts...

Just drive "off-turbo" for a few minutes before you arrive home..

But then it's your car to do with as you wish, speaking as a GPS owner for the last 4 years I have had no problems at all & I treat my car to good doses of common sense & just a bit more sympathy...(y)

Exactly whats the point of buying a car to be afraid to drive it?

Sharkey isnt afraid to drive it (98,000 miles...)

If you drive within the Law it's hard to abuse a car... however if you think you're Jensen Button that might be different.

Warming down a turbo applies to all turbo equipped cars... ignore it at your peril, imagine the turbo spinning up at almost 100,000 RPM and you effectively cutting off the oil supply... Job Done.

lol./... indeed... mine goes to track days, hired airfield ect, not to mention car meets where we drive, er lets say "briskly" :D.... just a little mechanical sympathy is all thats required (y)

Something ive not heard of but obviously interested in reading, By idling do you mean engine running, Or key still in ignition but engine stopped? Sorry to have to ask

On most other cars with a turbo, "idling" means leaving the engine to run on while you have stopped, not just leaving the key in. The engine must be running. This lets the engine cool the turbo blades and parts down, avoiding damage.

The problem is the Puntos start&stop feature. Does it keep all the cooling running when the engine stops? Nobody I've spoken to, really knows for sure. My dealer said he thought it probably did, but even he couldn't give me a straight answer.

My guess is, it probably does. But I could also see this being an obvious oversite by Fiat.

Personally, until I get it confirmed 100%, I avoid letting the start&stop kick in.

Just to follow up my original posting - the knocking sound that I originally noticed seems to have stopped now. Perhaps something needed bedding in. Or fell off.

I'd be very interested to know what the technicians say about start&stop and the turbo too.
