General My new Fiat Punto Evo GP 1.4 8V

Its just an Punto Evo not a gp.

It's a Punto Evo GP.

Punto Evo Sporting (Top of the 3door range) (Sport)
Punto Evo Eleganza (Top of the 5door range) (Comfort)
Punto Evo GP (Sport)
Punto Evo Dynamic (Comfort)
Punto Evo Active (General)

And looking good, i really like the side strips on the GP, beats the ones the Eleganza has.

I do wish people wouldn't think they know better than the person who's just paid over 10 grand for it. It's not the first time ive read someone make a know-it-all comment like this about the Evo. As pointed out, GP is a trim level, just like it was on the Grande Punto when Fiat phased out the Active Sport trim.

8v?

Why not the 16v?

Might be wrong but the way that's written sounds abit like a derogatory comment towards the 8v engine, which many people find perfectly acceptable.

Maybe the OP doesn't have a bottomless pit of cash, just like alot of us?

Personally if the money was the issue I would have thought of going for the 16v instead of the style pack and get the extra performance that the 16v gives you.

8v GP with Style pack in red = £12,935
16v GP in Red = £13,735

Not a major price difference?

Looks amazing. Same colour I am getting my Sporting in also with the side strips. Though I have to say I am not crazy about the red interior but thats just personal I guess.

Enjoy it :)

hi there thanks for the comments i am enjoying the car very much 180 miles on the clock so far and only had it yesterday at 10.15am love the start\stop feature i didnt have the 16v version as i not to worried about performance i am just after reliability and a bit of style and i had the stripes has i thought it would break up the red a bit which it does well but i have to back to the garage on tuesday has the cuppy hole near the sat nav does not open that is the only problem i have found

Check the little cubby hole by your right knee aswell if you haven't already, it should open/shut nicely... if it shuts at a strange angle etc then its wrong, easy fix but dealership has to do it.

The mentioned + the satnav cubby hole are known faults, everyone seems to have had one or the other.

Chill out I didn't realise it was a trim and how does it make any different that they have paid over 10k for it?! A lot of people don't know stuff about there cars.

The OP has given his reasons now anyway, but i agree not a major price difference. However some people aren't bothered about having the quickest engine, it's all down to personal preferences.

Basically i'm saying that if you'd just gone out and spent a significant sum of money on something then you'd more than likely have a decent idea about what it's called. Everyone can make a point that's incorrect so i wasn't having a go at you about that, but it's annoying when people write something as if to say theyre definately right, when infact they don't know for sure. There seems to be alot of people on here who are too sure of themselves & it's irritating to see, hence why i commented.

I have to agree with this comment that people seem to bang on about what they actually have no idea about in the first place.

The Punto EVO GP misunderstanding has come up before by some Grande Punto owner saying the the EVO isn't a Grande :bang:

Nice car I must say, however in my own opinion I'd have saved £80 and gone for the black side mouldings to match the black mouldings in the front and rear bumpers, which I must admit if they were body coloured, would have made the EVO look alot nicer. Don't get why they reverted back to back bumpers on the EVO.

Just my opinion though. But red looks so sharp! :p

Coming from an 8v Grande Punto to the new MultiAir 16v EVO.

I can say I'd have not bought an 8v EVO EVER, personally.

2 reasons. Economy after a 2800 mile run in is sooooo much better than the 8v and the extra boost in power and overtaking ability is really important for me.

The 8v needs to be hammered for barely any grunt, in my opinion, but the MultiAir has this surge of torque like a diesel at low revs which is satisfying.

But my engine is underporforming due to a headgasket fualt, so when it's fixed ... WOOP I'll be flying lol

But when your spending over 12k for a new car the extra for the MultAir is barely anything or equivalent in price is quitting smoking lol or cheaper food which I'd have anyday for the MultiAir over the 8V.
