Technical OH NO! Engine management light (and interior trim issues)

I also have the same issue with the cubby hole,, some times it closes to the left overlapping the trim,, but a push to the side sorts it,, not sure if i should get it seen to,, not really a major prob but a nice we place to keep my USB stick.

I've just used my cubby hole thing for the first time and when i cam to close it, it seems i have the same problem as everyone else! It's a great storage area, albeit a bit small, but i'm a bit disappointed with it being a bit flimsy. Mine is going in for Parking Sensor warning light coming on intermittently so i'll get them to look at that whilst it's in!

Blank2k2 when you got the cubby hole cover replaced was it physically a different part to the original that broke? Or was it just the same that fitted better? Getting mine on Wednesday and if its not very good will drive right over to the service area and get them to order a new one.

Same part, just "the mechanic rehooked the cubby hole cover"

I was quite surprised by how much better it was, originally a flexy bit of crap quality plastic feeling junk... rehooked the door on its hinge & it transforms into a fairly sturdy quality feeling bit of kit :)

I tried to rehook it myself but realised the threading on the hook was already duff, so it didn't work

Any photo's and specs of your car?

no kidding, im evading potholes & road curruption like buggery but its an almost impossible task... or at least, not possible without being pulled over and being breathalysed.

suspension on the Evo is brilliant, irons out potholes etc brilliantly, much better than other cars i can think of that cost more... but i do wonder how much abuse it can take before i start feeling them, or developing a rattle.

So true! Our Laguna is still smooth riding but the rear suspension clunks like mad over bumps now. It doesn't help that where we live, pretty much all of our local journeys are on roads managed by the local council rather than on major A roads & Motorways (managed by the Highways Agency), which are much less damaged, but the way it clunks over bumps now makes me quite angry because i'm sure it's mostly down to the pi*s poor roads it has to endure.

I did wonder if some areas of the Country mightve been better than others, but since all 3 of us are in different Counties, this looks unlikely! :(

Also, do you guys find that even when a road is pretty much wrecked, all they do is patch it? That's what we seem to get here at the moment, and the patches are so poor that you get almost as bad-a-bump going over the uneven patch as you did going over the pothole! Saturday night when i went into town was lethal with all the puddles. I wasn't sure which was just water & which had craters lurking beneath, so i was also driving like i was pis*ed :p

Hope the Evo got some good testing on that special bit of road that Fiat/Alfa developed for UK testing!

Yep, crater appears in middle of the road so they throw abit of filler in, then the next time there's very cold or very hot weather it cracks up & leaves an even bigger hole.

There's a dual carriageway near me with a 100 yards of "scar" effect down the middle of the road going right down to the base, been like that since the cold weather we had a few months ago.... and because the middles turfed up the surroundings are also cracking up so its slowly getting wider, its interesting to see how long they'll wait before doing anything.

Currently its like a rally course at, pretty sure it could kill a motorbike if they didnt notice (night etc).... just wait for someone to be killed then they'll decide they need to put piggy banks ("safety" cameras) on the road.

I think the problem has been this winters big freeze it has caused a huge amount of damage to the roads and I don't think the councils can really cope with it. There is a part of dual carriageway near to me that is in such a poor state that they have imposed a temporary 50 mph speed limit on it. But I don't remember the roads ever being this bad. The problem is there just isn't the money to repair them all properly. I guess they could always put another couple of pence onto petrol tax to pay for it

They put the money on petrol anyway but spend the
money feeding, clothing and housing bogus assylum seekers
who have travelled half way around the world to get the the
uk. Roads are a long way down the list.

Tut Tut that's politically incorrect :bang:

Ive experienced alot of these bits of road that have large parts of the main surface missing aswell, possibly not as damaging but sounds horrid to drive over.

The potholes seem to be appearing all over the carriageway now though. In the past i remember them mostly being towards the edge of the road so you could at least avoid them. Now i end up in the path of oncoming traffic if i try and swerve round some

I agree about bikers - i'm amazed no bikers have been killed by it. The problem shouldve been resolved before bikes started using the road for summer.

Totally true, the councils obviously can't deal with it. I think in part it's because there's probably so much beuracracy (sp) involved in authorising each bit of work, rather than any lack of machinery or staff.

There's abit of road by us with a reduced speed limit due to 'uneven road'. It made me similarly annoyed to the 'queues likely' signs - if they know the roads uneven or a queue is likely, do something about it!

As has been said elsewhere though, they simply don't put enough money back into the roads. Thats the main reason that's putting me off voting Lib Dem - they want to cut the roads budget even further  We'd be back to dirt tracks if they spend much less.

Yikes, didn't know lib dem wanted to cut the road budget... i guess they expect us all to be so stoned out of our minds on legal weed that we dont care about our cars anymore.

Must say, cutting the road budget has to be the stupidest thing i've heard.
They need to make it so councils can just repair potholes at will without so much paperwork etc & they need to make it so there workforce isn't charging higher than premium prices.... My dad & his friend work for the council on occasion and were told a couple of years ago that they have to charge 2-3x as much as they do because its making the rest of the people they hire look bad & if people notice then questions will be asked etc.

I had the EBOD display this morning on my Alfa 135. Started but felt like it was only running on 3 cylinders, steering had a loud squeek on full lock too. Went round the block and was tempted to abort work as it felt so sluggish but went anyway. I've only had it a week and done 300 miles from new. Finished work and it was all back to normal. Went 'Dynamic' and scared myself sh*tless, it's sooo fast!

My Evo was I the garage on friday and they have to replace the head gasket and the cambelt. Also one cylinder was miss firing. They said the engine could go bang at any time but it's unlikely. they told me it was extremely important to keep revs low. I'd suggest you get yours looked at!
