Just idle curiousity really, but does anyone know if all versions of the new Punto Evo are made in Italy? Also, how do they get to the UK. Do they all come by ship through Bristol docks, or do any come overland by rail through the channel tunnel? I tried asking Fiat themselves via an email through their website, but even after several weeks have not received an answer. Is there a reason why they would not want to answer such questions?

When I bought my last Punto I was told it was coming by ship from Italy so I guess that kinda answers your question. Not sure where they land though.

I was told Poland for my Evo, but it was still early days so weather thats true or not i don't know.

And they come in via boat, probably unloaded at avonmouth.

I know they come in by boat because my brother (British gas salesman) met some guy that was into cars & the guy turned out he drives cars off the boat & he mentioned the Punto Evo's cornering lights worked differently than the BMW's (brother was showing off his new BMW)

Ive just taken delivery of my Punto Evo Sporting and i was chatting to my dealer about this and he told me that the Evo's are built in Italy and shipped over to the UK to Bristol and then by road to their final destinations. I initially thought it was Poland but it's the Panda's and 500's that are built there. Hope this helps!

My Fiance is Polsh, form a little town called Wadowice. She is adament that they make all types of fiats including Punto Evo over in a huge factory near there.

(she keeps demanding i ring them direct rather than use e bay for all my spare parts!)

I was told that the higher-specced Evos are built in Italy, the low to mid-range models were from Poland. I was informed they are shipped into Bristol by sea and then by road to the dealer network from there (as above).

Wikipedia says they are all built in Italy, and that agrees with what I understand too.

Only the Panda, 500 and Ford Ka are made in Poland.

Only problem with Wikipedia, its great for info but anyone can edit it in a couple of clicks... im surprised its not vandalised more tbh, but also when it comes to very specific / in the know info like that i take it with a pinch of salt!

Notice the resemblance to this document from Fiat?

This document is a year or so old, so things could have changed, but I really don't see Fiat spending extra money to move some production of the Punto Evo to Poland, when they have a perfectly good plant in Italy that does nothing else but Puntos.
