Lol.... lots of basic stuff in the GP came from the Punto Mk2b... still the same stuff... wait a bit & see if Fiat have ironed out the "characteristics" of a Fiat...

What bits are common on tha Grande and Mk2b and any big changes on the Evo compared to the Grande?

As regardsniggles don't be so sure the manufacturer irons them out, alot of the time they decide not to remedy the root cause and leave it for warranty repairs/ recalls etc.

A classic example of this was on my Citroen C2 VTS. It was well known that the inlet manifold bolts shear off due to the increased weight of the aluminium manifold compared to the plastic one normally fitted, Citroen had a repair kit with stronger bolts especially for this fix under warranty. Did they ever solve this problem at the manufacturing plant? Did they chuff!

Dont know what bits are common the grande etc but the big main change on the Evo is the MultiAir engine & completely re-done interior which looks brilliant, plus they've reduced sound levels by a decent amount too, its very quiet/smooth to drive.

The new interior should eliminate the common Grande Punto problems of poorly fitting gloveboxes & windscreen heater vent lifting up/popping out of its fitting.

The new engines might bring about their own problems, but Fiats engines are rarely the reason for any problems - it's usually suspension & steering components, aswell as trim & electronic faults that lead to dealer visits. Obviously the trim problems should be eliminated, but whether the random electronic warnings, faulty steering racks & premature suspension wear has been rectified, remains to be seen. Would hope so though - they appear to have got alot right with the Panda, 500 & Bravo, so i dunno how the checklist for the Grande Punto ever got so lengthy.

Here's hoping, coz i for one am finding the Evo growing on me quite alot!

well the same engine is used in new alfa romeo's, and they're known to be reliable.....

My Grande is very quite if I meet my mates or whatever they ask 'is your car still on?' lol

I get the same, and its off ;)

Start&Stop (y)

S&S is pretty eerie to start with, you think you cant hear the car & then it stops and it feels .. odd, just to have it suddenly stop, then all you can hear is the car infront/behind, it freaks me out even 4 weeks on :p

Eh?

Multi air has been in alfas for not much longer than they have been Fiats and so as such it is not known how reliable they are. After testing them for 10 years or so Fiat should of got them pretty reliable.....
