Have you ordered an Evo?

Just wondering how many people have ordered an Evo?
If you have ordered (or collected)..

What model did you get?
When are you expecting your new car?

I gather April is the key date for many orders.

Re: Have you ordered an Evo?

Yeah, ordered mine about 3/4 weeks ago and got told today that the boat it was on docked on tuesday. It apparently takes aroud a week to get through customs and to the dealer, so it should'nt be long .

I'm getting an ambient white 1.4 8v GP.
Options: Body coloured side strips, Climate control, Spare wheel, Mats, Visibility pack, Style pack and Cruise control. I've opted for the red dash and grey/red inserts seats.

Should be a massive improvement on my W reg 5 door mk2.

To say I cant wait would be a massive understatement.

I really wanted the subwoofer (from the GP style pack, i think?) for my Eleganza but it wasnt an option even when i asked specifically for the sub i was well gutted, was pretty much the only extra it was lacking.. hoping at a later date ill be able to get one installed or sommit.

Pretty sure MrBoney (no doubt he'll post here soon) has ordered ambient white too.

Re: Have you ordered an Evo?

Yeah I'm looking forward to having a sub. I don't think it's that big mind. After looking at the punto evo GP in the showroom which had the style pack, the sub seems to be quite small and at the right hand side of the boot. I can imagine it's still good though.

I'm looking forward to seeing the climate control aswell. Not just for he benefit of having climate control, but I feel the controls look alot better/ classier than the standard controls.

Cruise control should be nice aswell, even though I dont think I'll use it that often.

I had a play with the stereo in the GP (Sub included) in showroom, it isnt going to boom boom boom, but it does add alot of bass & depth to the sound... so its great for higher quality listening, but your not gunna be pulling up at the beach n popping the boot to entertain friends... its basically what id like, i like my booms etc to be deep sounding bass, rather than feeling restricted (the sound system is above average as standard anyway, but with sub/amp would be much better.)

Climate control is nice, though i must admit i sometimes wish i just had a knob to turn but im getting used to it now & its quite good, especially for demisting, hit the "Max" button (for demisting) and a/c comes on high, rear window demister turns on etc and the mist is gone within 5 seconds... and yeah i opt'd for climate control long before i bought the Eleganza just because it looked high-end rather than a few knobs from the cheaper versions.

Cruise control is great, i was expecting it to be something cheesy i.e a press button and u stay at that speed but touch anything and it'll click off, but it seems to be a full cruise control setup on its own stalk for increasing/decreasing speed, allows u to put your foot down to overtake & then take your foot off again and it'll return to previous speed. (that said, ive only had limited use of it so far, awaiting a good motorway trip)

It's a brilliant car, im well chuffed with mine... though ive had a few teething problems but nothing that reflects on the car itself.

Problem List:

1# Blue&Me TomTom - wont connect to the car properly, awaiting a new control unit.

2# Had a paint blemish on delivery (CHECK THE CAR WHEN YOU PICK IT UP!), that was sorted perfectly but the car did have to go into garage for 3 days.

3# Recently Noticed the glass(plastic) infront of the speedo etc in certain light looks like a child has been playing with it or had stickers all over it, and it appears to be on the inside of the glass (getting this checked tomorrow.)

Nothing major really, the car itself is going great & everything works fine, and its so quiet!

They put a sticker on it during shipping. I would just clean it with some glass cleaner

Re: Have you ordered an Evo?

Spoke to the dealer this morning, and theirs a little bit of a delay with the car AGAIN!

I was firstly promised the car for early march, then march 16th, then for the easter weekend, but now they say I should definately have it for april 7th.
However they have told me that I can use their demo evo for the easter weekend up until my car arrives and they are going to give me 250 cash for my troubles.

So hopefully it will actually be here for april 7th, fingers crossed...

Go for it & boot it!... its a ball ache having to drive nicely for the first 1000 miles or so, though today i must admit i rev'd it to see off a mondeo :P

April sounds about right, i was very lucky to get mine early march but thats because I reminded them constantly about what the salesman said (they had some demo's coming in for march, and they were going to alter one to Eleganza etc for me so i could collect it earlier) .... everyone else was saying April.

250 & being able to rag a new Evo sounds good to me

Re: Have you ordered an Evo?

The original salesman told me early march (although he then left fiat a week later after making the deal with me, so I think he was talking bull), so its a bit disapointing not having my car now.

But yeah youre right, getting to rag a new evo about for a weekend and 250 is very good. I'm almost certainly not complaining

The only problem I think I'll have, is having to take it easy in my new car for the first 1000 miles after ripping their demo car around for 3/4 days. Could be very frustrating but it has to be done.

Its very frustrating! i had a VW Polo courtesy car last week, i ragged that fooker into the ground.... finding it soooo difficult not to plant my foot down in my evo now, i have done a couple of times but i start to feel guilty n i behave again, i really need to control my urges or just get on the motorway n get rid of the initial 1000 miles.

i actually maxed it in 3rd today... very stupid considering it only has 280miles on the clock atm, seemed to go pretty well though.

AG Fast Glass couldnt touch it, AG Glass Polish couldnt touch it...

Decided to use some meths, came off no problem! ... car doesnt really have a new car smell anymore, more of a drunken tramp smell to it, but the speedos clean
