i have my 1242cc punto engine on a bench in the yard,
and i suddenly thought oooooooooo paint it b4 it gets to its planned location in my panda 4x4.

so i googled a bit. it appears some boy racers paint there rocker covers red or black. and alot of very expensive V8 american muscle cars have the full engine in bright red. !

i know the paint will only cost about £7-£10 ish.,

so.. will a white 4x4 panda look good (interesting,wierd,different,strange)
with a red engine.
or will it look stupid as if i wish i had a faster car.

In my opinion it'd look better just cleaned up and polished. Or painted black, silver or anthracite...

:yeahthat: with the block painted black but not the rocker or head.

Umm, I painted my Pandas engine's rocker cover white, testa bianco

green, paint it green.

Pink! Paint it pink!

i'd go with red or black block, but leave the head aluminium amybe have the rocker cover done also... but you've got to get the exhaust done also... otherwise it'll look tatty.

I recommend a place in Warrington that do ceramic coating ... camcoat

how about red bottom end
silver head (cos tony already cleaned that lots haha)
then red rocker cover.

or
red bottom end and head and silver rocker cover.
(cos iv polished the cover LOADS)

im not wonderfully keen on the pink or green suggestions.
black bottom end it nice.

unless you do it properly then dont do it at all, few things look worse than peeling/burning paint, and the smell is awful. you said the paint will only cost £7-£10, which suggests you wont be using the right type of paint. preparing the engine surfaces will cost more than £7-10 (i'd want to shot blast, but at least a good once over with plenty of gunk and/or sugar soap), and the paint will cost a lot more (need better than the usual high temp paint, caliper or exhaust paint will do it). please dont cover it in hammerite.
