Just thought I'd let people know, I had cambelt (both belts and tensioner), waterpump, powersteering and fan belts replaced as well as a couple of other job done.

I supplied the waterpump (£30 from a local motorfactors), all in all it cost me a total of £440 inc vat (not including water pump cost) - which I regard as a very good price as he hadn't done the 20V engine before.

Richard @ Carlton Service Station (Carlton Miniott near Thirsk) did a cracking job.

Plus his machines can read the engine/fault codes!

Hi Hebby, was it done in a day?

I need to know so I can take time off work;)

Thanks

I have no idea - I basically left the car with him for a week as I had a spare vehicle. It was the first one he had done so I think it was trial and error before sussing out how to do it without removing the engine as all the books recommend.

I'd give him a call and check availability as he is very busy. If you mention my name (Simon Hebb) he will then probably curse and give you an indication of time frame.

Above will do cambelt, tensioners, waterpump and aux belts all in for £380. That includes all genuine Fiat parts and labour. And you get a loan car as well !! I cannot recommend Howard any higher. Top bloke, and real Italian petrol head, and most of all, no BS. Just a straight forward down to earth nice guy.

Andy.:)

I bet after doing one he'll not be wanting to do another :p

What are Walkers quoting as they're the nearest Italian specialist nearby?

Walkers? If you have to ask you can't afford! Their labour rates are serious.....

Erm... he said North Yorkshire... Not Wales.

They're trying to make themselves exclusive to Lancias.. Quoted me over a grand for the cambelt on my Tipo Sedici. Motormech did it for just over £100. FAST do it for not a lot more.

Lancia boys should take notice especially since the Lancia Delta and Tipo Sedici have nearly the same engine. Certainly not £900 extra worth of labour and parts.

Still a great price and a free loan car as well !! I bet other specialists don't lend cars so quickly!! And its an Alfa 156 too:D

Yep, Walkers are known thoughout the lancia clubs as way OTT with prices. They are basically taking the P*SS!!!! Infact, a Fiat dealer will do it for less!!!

Andy.

I believe that the place I recommended does have a loan car (if you book early enough) but it is not something I asked about as I have options of lifts as and when my car is out of commission.

Walkers are just plain expensive - Intelgrale owner friend said that Walkers have 'special prices' ie empty your wallet and look behind the sofa for every spare penny.
