Read up on the brake shoe debate a couple of pages back. Fitted new handbrake cable- lots of slack- suspicious. Removed drums and found shoes to be from 1mm to 3 mm thick. Quoted from local motor factor £12 for replacement shoes. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the handbrake should engage a lot sooner if the shoes are new, good and thick. I'm thinking that the handbrake doesn't engage until late, even with most of the adjustment taken up BECAUSE the shoes are thin. Correct, or have I missed something?
