Had a big problem the other week with the Marea 110 JTD ELX.
Basically, I've not been driving it for a few weeks as the wife's clio's been tempermental so I've been using that.
So, I was driving along thinking that the car felt funny, especially the clutch, but put it down to not using it for a while.
I pulled off at the motorway junction and pressed the clutch down (which was very loose) but couldn't get into any gear.
After looking silly for a while, i finally managed to get it into third and floored it. It smelt a bit but got me to where I need to be.
After calling the friendly AA man out, he eventually came about 1hr 30 mins later and topped it up with Hydraulic fluid.
Basically, I had a leak on the Hydraulic slave cylinder which meant sense after it was explained to me.
The car’s done 59,500 miles and I just assumed that the clutch was at its last days.
I took yesterday off trying to get it sorted, with a local garage that I could trust and not get ripped off with.
I finally got one in Westhoughton, Bolton, which for the record is not local and they said they’d pick it up tomorrow (Tuesday). I said to them, “well if you want to pick it up now you can as it’s not doing anything.”. They came and drove it off (I actually thought they’d tow it at least!!!) and I rang them up about 4ish and they’d done it.
Some garages where telling me they’d need the chassis number, serial number of the original part and my grandma’s cat’s birth certificate……
I don’t think the price is that bad. I got charged £117.50 for the whole job, I got it done in the same day so I didn’t loose another day as annual leave…..
Anyway, garage is called Clutch and MOT centre, 01942 818 991
