My 1999 LHD 105 JTD injection system warning light has been illuminating on dash for last few days. Started in France after 100 miles or so light came on and cut engine. Then won't start, but after cooling, was able to continue journey to Calais. Happened again in UK, got breakdowservice to recover home. Last time this happened ( 5 years ago ) a sensor/switch/valve near clutch pedal was replaced, which did the trick ( though took Fiat about a month to get part 'cos didn't have part number ! ). Now use independent garage.they want to replace glow plugs. Searched all Multipla threads, but can't find anyone with similar trouble. Anyone had same problem. I'm not convinced glow plugs would light injection system fault !

Being a recent "convert" to the multi and having a few teething problems including the same injector light failure that turned out to be the throttle position sensor wiring I have found that when in doubt get it to a Fiat dealer or Fiat specialist with the puker diagnostics kit. Apologies if you have seen these:

Thanks Troy, but I was put off my local Fiat dealer 'cos when i first had problem they diagnosed a sensor/switch/valve below clutch pedal, but had no part number, hence couldn't order a part. They said they couldn't phone the parts depot only fax them, painstakingly slow. Couldn't ring Fiat...weren't allowed. Had no joy with Fiat myself ! After a fortnight I rang the Agent in Holland who I bought the car from and they gave me a part number over the phone ! So I have little confidence in them.....though they did correctly diagnose the problem. This time the engine cut out as soon as light came on ( I was overtaking on the motorway at the time....interesting ! )

similar problem with 2000 105 jtd for last four years erratic injector warning light and loss of power . and then short time later power kicking back in. removed the vacuum type egr valve and checked it was not sticking and bolted it back on with high temp gasket cement . ran fine for 3 weeks then started acting up again . removed the egr valve again and found gasket cement had disappeared thus it must have been sucking air into exhaust or inlet manifold . its an awkward cuss to fit and obviously had not bolted it down tight enough. tried a a different refit .bolted the egr valve to the pipe first off the car .which just left the 2 exhaust manifold bolts to contend with managed to get them bolted down tight using a 1\4 inch drive13mm socket and extension . and wow what a difference loadsa power and no red light running better than it has ever done in the last four years and all it cost was a tube of gasket cement and skint knuckles
