Hi All,
Im about to buy my first Fiat and Im wondering if its a good deal.

Here the specs:
Fiat Brava
£2995
58,000 miles
R Reg (1998)
Power Steering, Electric Windows, Stereo.
Pretty good condition. An AA inspection came up with about 5 faults, like the power steering fluid needed changing, the steering wheel alignment was out etc.

What do you think?

For £3k that's pretty expensive especially considering the "faults".

hmmm, what do you reckon would be a good price to try and get them down to ... presuming they agree to fix the faults...

Hi,
Got my P97 Marea HLX 2.0 20v with 54k on clock for £1995. Chances are you will need to change the timing belt as well. Try for between £2k and £2.5k

Dave. :)

Whats the deal with the timing belt? I alway hear about them breaking on fiats.

Also, how much do you think it would cost to get those repairs done at another placE?

Don't know about your last questions, but I reckon 3k is a bit over the top for a 98R, I'd have thought you'd get something around 99V-00W for that kind of money.

Is that from a dealer or private?

Hi

the timing belt for a Brava 1.6 SX is £38, if you want an original part and my local independent fitted it for £25, not bad I thought.

Power steering fluid is no problem, nor is wheel alignment, but £3k is over the top, £2k to £2.4k depending on spec and condition.

Sill Protectors, Aluminium Foot Pedals, Eibach 30mm Drop Springs,
Starsky & Hutch Stripes, Ambipur Air Freshener.

I agree, I got my 2000 1.6 HSX for not much more than that.

About 2K or just over would be about right for a 1998 Brava in good condition.

If it's from a main dealer and they fix the faults and give you some sort of warranty then don't rule it out though.

Also, the timing belt isn't prone to breaking on Fiats any more then on other cars, get it changed when you buy the car or shortly afterwards and you'll be fine.

But just look at the prices round where I live...

Hmmm... I really like the car, it drove really nicely, but just a bit hesitant...

BTW it comes with a 3 month warranty, thinking about getting it covered by www.warrantydirect.co.uk, £350 for 3 years, worth it?
