hi my car needs a new head gasket, been told seven hours labour + parts
around £300. Is there anybody local to me that can do it cheaper, would be well appreciated?

It is so easy to do that you can do it yourself.

yeah lick p*ss easy, the garage is having a laugh. You could get a new engine for that price!

rang fiat, they said £600.

My HG went a couple of weeks ago Got my bro (a mechanic) to help me out, TBH he did most of the tricky stuff, it wasn't that hard really, it was just making sure everything was done right e.g having the head skimmed, new head bolts.

Cost in total around £100 for all new bits e.g headgasket set, bolts, new oil/filter, thermostat, skimmed.

So my theory would be (if you don't feel confident enough) get a friend or family member to help you out, then if it goes again you have the knowledge to do it yourself.
