hey,

my punto 1.2 8valve, is a quality motor! and i drive it fantastically, and try not 2 thrash it. i gave it an oil change yesterday including a new oil filter and rocker cover gasket. i drive it alot and has never overheated. tonight, i drove a very short distance to meet my friends for 10 minutes, and my overheat light came on for the very first time. me and my friends took a look and cant understand why it descided to start overheating?! i checked the oil...... fine. then we mentioned bleeding the water out of the radiator and refilling.

We are definatley unsure about the problem. is this a sign of close to the end of the head gasket??!!!

its a 1997 punto with 64k on the clock, and as far as im aware, the head gasket has not been replaced yet!

If anyone knows anything about my situation, or what might have caused it, please let me know ASAP so i can plan ahead!

you say you drained the water and refilled it? it should be coolent in there not just water, and bled properly as it says here https://www.fiatforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=82

could be a stuck thermostat wich isnti opening up to let the water through.

Sounds like it to me seems to be a common problem!

Is the little red light on top of temp gage
the "overheating light",or is their another one??
