My first thread on this useful site. Purchased a new Stilo in Nov 2002 after having Fords previously and worst thing I've ever done. I've had a MAP sensor replaced twice now and on the second occasion took 4 weeks to get the part as Fiat were out of stock, luckily car just in warranty and had courtesy car, but Fiat Head office were useless. Now I have a Cylinder pack up on the way home from holiday and ended up being towed home by the RAC. My local garage (non-fiat dealership) advises that a new coil pack is required £35 which doesn't seem bad, however their local supplier is out of stock and upon contacting Fiat Parts this item is out of stock until end of April. So they are on the hunt for a secondhand part or from somewhere else in the UK.
The questions I have is that has anyone else come up against this extremely poor service from Fiat for parts? I find it unbelievable that a car manufacturer like Fiat cannot supply an essential part of an engine within a few days, I've never had this problem with Ford.
2 local Fiat dealerships have closed in Essex leaving just the one in Chelmsford, if a secondhand part cannot been found I'm going to see if I can insist on them moving the car from the local garage to them and supplying a courtesy car UFN. I doubt they will agree to this, so I'm tempted to seek if I can take any legal action or see if BBC Watchdog are interested to take this further. Has anyone done this or considered this?
If anyone has any comments or suggestions please let me know.
Cheers
Darren
