The plastic gaiter around my Idea's gear lever has split and, before buying a leather replacement, I wanted to make sure I could get the gear knob off without damage. There are several threads on the Forum about how difficult this is on models with a similar looking gearshift.
Don't know if it's because the knob is very hot in today's weather but it came off quite easily with a twist then firm pull upwards. Also seems to have gone back on OK with a couple of taps by hand. Perhaps the Idea is easier anyway but heating the plastic knob may be the answer to anyone needing to take it off.
