I'm very new here so hello!

Im really hoping that someone here will be able to give me an answer for this one!

I'm having a problem where my left and right brake lights will come on and then the middle brake light but as soon as the middle one comes on, it knocks out the left light?

Really hoping that it'll be an easy fix!

as above, sounds like classic poor earth so locate and clean the earth for the rear of the car, i'm not sure where it is but someone will. Worth opening the rear lights themselves and checking the connections and bulb holders for corrosion too.

The earth for the rear lamps etc. seems to be hidden under the wheel-arch carpet on the n/s inner arch on our Multijet. Rather than strip out half the car I found it easier to run a new wire from the n/s lamp earth terminal and drill a self-tapper into the nearby metalwork for the other end.

p.s it seems a poor earth produces various special effects - ours used to flick the rear wiper whenever the brakes were applied

i would pull the connect off the rear light clusters and look at the centre pins of the connector


Post some photo I would hazard a guess the middle ones are either. corroded or melted.
