My power steering wheel makes a buzzing sound when i run the wheel when it's stationary, I don't hear it when I'm driving on the road but I do hear it when I'm driving up my driveway. Has anyone got any ideal what could be causing it? would really appreciate anyone that can help, thank you

Hi @Sile ni eochaidh :)

You might get more replies if you re-post your question in the correct section for the Panda here

Just to check: does the steering feel any different? Does it get heavier? Or is it just the noise that's troubling you?

Apart from the battery, other things that can cause problems for the electric power steering are:

  • earth cable - remove the battery and tray, clean the two earth cable connections on the car body and the engine block. Or replace with a new cable.
  • alternator - test if your alternator is charging your battery correctly.
  • battery draining - check for other electrical faults that could be causing a parasitic drain on your battery.
If you don't feel confident about doing these steps yourself, then a motor electrician (or any decent independent garage) can do this for you.

If all else fails, there is a specialist in the UK, who might be able to offer advice: Western Power Steering 00 44 1179 602906

Good luck :)
