Hi.

We bought a VERY low mile 63 plate in the summer.

Running well indicated 54mpg over last 3k miles.. and freeing off nicely.

HOWEVER.. when left for a couple of hours after a decent drive it stutters.. almost 'hunts' ( under load) for around a minute.. then is fine again.

All fluids and temps seem good

No warning lights .. and it was 10k mile serviced by the FIAT:alfa specialist on purchase.. so oil grade should be A1

Anybody seen this before?

My punto TA (2012) has NEVER even hinted this in 50k..

Im tempted to try my MES.. but it may not be up to date enough for the ECU write.

Suggestions please.

Still got 4 weeks warranty left..

If had to guess, temperature sensor, lambda sensor, coils, plugs, clean uniair filter. Try super unleaded. Drive like your hair's on fire. You wouldn't want to lend it me put it that way. Merry Christmas. Use either of existing cars for now. Believe you have a Panda 169 Multijet?!

When I had mine it coughed and stumbled a bit at around 13k, it really sounded a bit sick sat idling in traffic.

I changed the plugs and it all went back to normal.

I can MAKE the punto do that

Forgetting about the clutch switch..and giving a whiff of throttle while clutch bites.. can drag revs too low and it chuffs a bit :(

With the panda..its just pulses of power

1st 2nd gear for 100 yards.. then its away again..
Been stood for 2 hours at that point.

After 1 hour its fine..

Will have to try and read some temp feedback

Most of the TwinAir problems comes from inferior fuel or wrong oil. ;)

I always use Ron 98 or more and mine go's like stink, and i'm running with 110 hp. (custom Map) :D

Its on the same fuel ..and oil..

As my punto has always been on. :)

The mrs did comment recently though that she had to do a quick top.up at a uk supermarket.

When I refilled at the normal place she said it was better than the stuff she had bought. ;)

None of this has changed the half.warm judder..

The aim of this thread was to make sure it wasnt a known issue..
Software update required..etc ;)

As the car has such low use its not been in a FIAT dealer for years...

I will call the specialist we bought it from for advice. :)

If you've any warranty left get to a dealer and have them check Uni-air system. My 4x4 had misfire symptoms, did the coil pack swap, spark plug thing but always remained and on same cylinder. Dealer replaced unit and all was well (my bank balance aside since it was out of warranty), dealer suggesting it was oil contamination.

These units (http://www.imparts.com.au/index.php?id=425 )seem incredibly sensitive to oil type, level etc. Don't go cheap on oil changes!

Update..

Not seen too much use..had no further work done

Mileage is now @18k

Went to do our clickandcollect food shop the other evening

Climbed in car :

1st trip in 10 days.. started perfectly

Warm evening..car display said 20'c been in the full sun all day.. so probably correct

Dash temp said 1 bar (line : block..) already .. before cranking.. so a warm day

It chugged : surged just like all the other times :(

Will try and get my MES onto it..
