which is the trans fill point? is it the 13 ml square nut behind the axle boot, facing the back of the car, RHS, or is it the 13mm hex nut, higher up, directly above the drain point on the RHS of casing.

the former is correct. I don't have a clear photo from my car so I lifted this from the owners manual. (Left arrow indicating the plug just behind the drive shaft boot on the exhaust side)

Always an idea to loosen the filler plug (to make sure you can) before the draining the oil.
