I have a 64 plate Punto easy.

When the rear washer fluid and windscreen wipers are activated washer fluid drips down inside the car between the glass and metal frame. Lots of fluid still comes out of the washer fluid nozzle so there is no blockage. It is quite a heavy drip into the boot. (n)

I originally thought that there was a seal leak between the window and frame however when testing with water there was no sign of a leak from outside the car. Any thoughts on this?

Sounds like the washer fluid pipe has a split in it and some of the water is escaping into the tailgate?

The washer fluid pipe passes from the body to the tailgate in the rubber tube at the top left of the hatch (together with all the tailgate wiring). There have been reports of the washer pipe breaking in this area due to repeated flexing from opening/closing the tailgate.

Alternatively, perhaps the pipe isn't secure on the back of the centre brake light? There's a guide to removing the light here:

Hi

Thank you for this help,

After taking the rubber bungs off from the inside of the car I have discovered that it seems to be leaking from the join between the pipe and the light fitting.

I have also discovered that the rear break light bar does not work
Could this be due to the washer fluid corroding the wires or stopping it from working?

- I am going to try removing the light fitting this weekend and see what has happened. (also do you know what diameter the pipe is so i can order some before I start disassembly?)

Many Thanks

Certainly possible ... alternatively it could be that the wires have broken in the rubber tube where they pass from the body to the tailgate ... but might expect other wires to have broken too so would have associated problems with rear screen heater and/or boot lock and/or wiper motor .... of course all the bulbs could have blown (there are 8 in total, so seems less likely).
