After shifting into 1st and releasing the clutch, the shift lever pops back a bit. It stays in gear, and other than that no issues. Is this a sign of impending doom for my transmision, or has it always been that way and I just got used to it.

If it doesn’t shift right then something is wrong. It it shifts fine then it may have been like that and you’ve been used to it. I know that’s not supposed to happen.
