Mileage flashing on my Punto Evo.
Have bought cables and software, only concern is this:

Anybody ever needed to do this as I don’t have 5 digit code?

I've done a few on others vehicles.

All the various computers and 'nodes' around the car need to talk to each other, and accept each other. A proxy alingment tells them all to accept each other. This is used when components are changed, or when communication is lost for some reason.

As an example, a friend replaced a complete door on a Croma. As window switches and locking are contained in the door, there is a 'node' in it. From that moment, all functions worked, but the mileage was flashing. A proxy alignment sorted that and all is working well since.

A proxy alignment will not fix any causes. They need to found and fixed first.

There is always a risk with this sot of thing that communication will be made worse, hence the warnings given. I've not seen the warning above, but the code can be obtained from your Fiat dealer. They charge for this, anytihng from £15 to £50, so be prepared to shop around or negotiate. Need to supply proof of ownership.

Thanks PB.

So, I suspect, this would be a main dealer ask? My wee Fiat independent specialist wouldn't be able to supply this code? Not too frightening a price, but £15 sounds much better than £50! I might just stick my head in the MD's door and sound them out next time I'm passing their door.

You don't have to reprogram the indicator and and alarm mode unless they are different from the factory default. You can check the current settings before carrying out Proxy Alignment. Even if they have been changed, the default settings should still be OK in most cases.

Some cars came with the CODE on a credit card sized card. Check your document wallet you might have it.

Thanks,
I’ll have a look at settings.

On the EVO they did not have an alarm in the UK and seeing as they are all right hand drives they were specifically build for the UK therefore the default was that they did not have an alarm.

I seem to recall that the indicators command relates to if the alarm goes off will it flash the indicators or if the alarm is set will it flash them to tell you. Again the Default on UK cars is to flash the indicators when you lock the doors on the remote.

This should not change things as the defaults are set but if you had for exampled turned off the indicators when locking the doors then you might find they start flashing again.

Another thing you could change was the no seatbelt chime which I believe will also default back to working if you do a proxi align.
