2008, 1.3 diesel, manual. 70,000 miles.

Gear stick is getting a bit sloppy in the gate. Gear changes are fine but the gearstick is floppy.

Before I strip any interior or get the car on ramps to have a look, does anyone know if it's caused by worn gear linkage bushes/rose joints or something else?

Hi. Not uncommon to be the pivot points of the mechanism..

Cables tend to upset the changing.

All from the GrandePunto ..

It needs a new white plastic bush at the swivel. Fiat only supply the whole assembly £100 plus fitting. The bush is available separately from Poland £25
I will do this but seek how to disconnect cable ball joints.
