My daughter has a petrol 1.4 Active Sport Grande Punto on a 56 plate.
She has started to have intermittent starting problems, when you go to turn it over all the dash lights come on but no turning or anything but if you keep the key fully turned and hold it sometimes for upto 30 seconds it fires up.
Does anyone have any ideas what it could be?

Can you hear a clicking noise in that 30 seconds. Could be a dicky starter.

No there is no noise at all, no click or anything.

Hmm, any error codes? Might be worth doing a battery test too.

No error codes have come up, the battery is only 3 months old and is ok.
It doesn't do it all the time, she could go a week or 2 and it works just fine, then for a couple of days it plays up.

Odd, maybe check all the wiring is ok and all the connectors are tight.

Wondering if it could maybe be a dead spot on the motor?

Definitely check all the cables to/from the battery. They corrode at the ends and cause electrical issues that can be hard to chase down
