Hi everyone! I'm new here, hello hello! I just got a 1982 126p 650cc. It's yellow ? Anyways as typical fiat fashion it's needs a bit of mechanical work. First 5 miles drive shaft went. Then 2 weeks later the coil wire broke so we brought it to a mechanic to get it tuned up. He got a carb kit for it and adjusted the carb but when we got her back she drove great until we went to restart her. A friend had a look and said the engine had flooded and the carb seemed to be running too rich. He wants to know what the plug gap and point gap is. I got the ignition timing manual online but am having trouble getting the gap info. Thanks for all yer help!!

Welcome to Fiat Forum :)

Afaik the spark plug gap is 25 thou (0.025 in.)
and the points gap is 12 - 16 thou (0.012-0.016 in.)

(these were the figures on the 126 in 1979, I'm sure someone will chime in and correct me if I'm wrong!).

A carb running rich would have nothing to do with points or plugs, unless the plugs were dripping wet, then it wouldn't matter how big or small the gap was.

He hasn't put a carb for an upright engine on a lie flat engine has he?
