was wondering if this engine sound is normal, i cant hear any difference between cold and warmed up engine

Sorry but you have some ears problem.
First video - higher frequency sound from more rotational speed.
Second video - a little low frequency sound.

it is probably cuz of that shrapnel, which i caught bak in nam

No it's not normal.

I had the same noise on my gp for some time. I replaced timing belt, tensioner, pump, aux belt and the noise gone. (3 years now still ok)

I don't really know what was the issue, everything was in pretty good shape but I THINK the noise was coming from the aux belt area.

Remove aux belt and check if the noise is still there, could be something from that area. It's the easiest/fastest test anyway.

im not concerned about alternator belt making that noise, its that engine clanking that worries me

It does sound a little diesely... What does it sound like when you rev it up?

Could be cracked exhaust manifold/turbo housing.
When gets warmer, metal spreds and you dont hear it so much

didnt rev it up and listened for clanking, car was in a side collision which caused gearbox mount to snap

Sounds normal to me. Tjet sounds like a diesel when you are so close.

The other noise is the same as mine.

uf, i thought engine is ****ed

The engine sound is pretty standard, that alternator belt sound isn't.
