]Hi I thought it might be of use to write a procedure for changing tulip for m32 Vectra drive shafts, something to bear in mind is that the m32 gearbox can have trouble with the bearing on the sixth gear shaft and when you drain the gear oil it may cause drama. Our drained oil was fine even after 60k miles. So here goes for the near side.

  • Jack the car up and remove the wheel and Knock off the hub cap
  • Refit the wheel and lower the car with a 32mm socket undo the shaft nut wind the nut out until flush
  • Jack the car up and put on an axle stand and remove the wheel again remove engine under trays.
  • Using an old six inch half inch extension and the 32mm socket drive the shaft in up to the nut.
  • Support the suspension arm , undo the small star bolt that holds the ABS bracket also pull the brake hose out of its slot then undo and remove the two 18mm nut and bolts from the strut to hub.
  • Use a large screw driver as a lever two pull the driveshaft out of the differential catching the oil with a suitable container.
  • There is enough movement available to permit getting splines out of the diff position the inner end so that it can move inwards.
  • Remove the nut and drive inwards until you can get the shaft clear and out.
  • Refit in reverse put the outer cv in place first draw in with the 32mm and when you drain the gear oil it may cause drama. Our drained oil was fine even after 60k miles. For the off side front right.

    • Remove the large clip from the inner cv tulip and pull the spider out of the tulip the hub will move out as you pull ,then point the tulip end into space.
    • Refit temp the two 18mm headed bolts
    • Remove the 32mm shaft nut and drive the shaft through the hub.
    • Undo the three 13mm nuts from the inner shaft bearing support.
    • Pull the inner shaft through the support.
    • Undo and set to one side the three bearing support star bolts(needed for the new shaft)
    • Knock the bearing support off.
