Are you planning on pumping 1200WRMS through a sub rated at 600WRMS?

see: http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/wiringwizard/index.asp?WoofQty=1+woofer&WoofImp=Dual+Voice+Coil+-+4+ohms+x+2&image.x=12&image.y=9

Probably best to get a 2ohm stable amp that will put out about 600 - 800 WRMS max to run the sub(cheaper too!). Its always better to run a sub with an amp that is a little bit more powerful, so that the amp is in control, but 1200WRMS through a 600WRMS sub would cook the voice coils as soon as you whacked it up!

Not taking the mick or anything but who are MA Audio? Wouldnt it be better to save for longer and be happy with the best that make do with what you can afford at the time? Have a look at www.Caraudiodirect.com for some quality car audio

P.S I agree about the 6x9's, leave them out. Use the money saved to get some quality components up front. Leave the rears out if you can, it will always sound beter.

P.P.S The cap is a waste of time. They are a fad. Totally useless.

100 watt 6X9s there a fing of the past! get some 600 or 800 watt ones! theyl liven the back up! as for the amp! you SHOULD run and amp approx half the maximum subs handling! if you wana loud install-ive recently installed a 10" 1100watt sony xplod penatgon sytle sub-it really kicks would recommend to any1! good luck

whos ur daddy!???

I beg to differ. First of all, the 'maximum' watt rating isnt an accurate rating of a sub. You should always use RMS (root mean square)rating, this is an average power rating, meaning, you could run it with this much power all day long if you want. Secondly, an amp that is running a sub should always have an RMS rating slightly higher than the subs RMS rating to ensure that the sub is running at it's full efficency. Thats a fact. Try having a look on www.talkaudio.com for some real advice, all the top SQ and Sound Off guys go on there, they all run their subs at way, way over the RMS rating. I know they only use the subs for burps but the same principle applies in normal car audio.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Ditch the 6x9's and spend the money saved on some decent components for the front.

800watt 6x9's??? seriously, is that RMS or 'peak power'. If its, peak power, you need to divide the figure by 4 to get an accurate rating!!

consider my ass kissed. ;)

Im not a pro or anything when it comes to car audio but I know a little bit. Just what I've picked up from friends or on Talk Audio.

No worries! just email me as soon as you're ready and we'll be able to sort it all in a day!

Wanted: Exhaust for my Cinq Sporting! PM me!

That sub is more like it! 5000WRMS!!! lol! I would love to see that shake a cinq to bits! But for the money, there are a lot of better subs out there. Have a look at www.caraudiodirect.com if your planning on spending that amount of money look at the RE SE12 which is a lot cheaper and is the 'sub of the moment'!

Before you get a sub and amp, its an idea to look at that Rockford Fosgate site on the link above to see how best to wire it up, it can get very confusing when using duel voice coils.

P.S with the money saved from the 6x9's you could go for some 4" components up front in the standard locations. Look at DLS, Focal, Crystal and Rainbow components. These are among the best in the world.

I got most of my stuff from www.caraudiosecurity.com
700w pioneer sub, 600w amp, box and wiring kit for £130. Its a cheap amp but my mate just spent £1300 on new ice in his Mk4 golf and i can't tell the differnce. Handy tip: secure the amp and sub down with industrial strength velcro, holds it firmly in place but u can still pull it out to get ur wheel. I'm left with 5mm between the bottem of the 6x9 in the shelf and the top of the sub box so i wouldn't have been able to put a board in.

Daring to be different
Bye Bye Nova boyz

just wanna say thanx to all 4 the advice etc oh n probs wont be for a year or so till i ave the money together :( so the system will probs be out ov date, just needed to get a general idea if the stuff i was lookin at was ok, anyway i think ill buy the haynes manual for ice (does any1 have it?) dont worry brickfoot ill still take u up on the offer ;)

Good idea, plan, plan, plan, plan, plan before doing anything with your car, you'll be surprised at how many times you'll be hlaf way through something and realise that you need to nip to Halfrauds or B&Q to get something with half your car in bits!

Car audio security is a good place, I was thinking of getting an amp and some components from there, I had looked around for ages to find somewhere that did some relativly cheap 10cm components and a decent amp to power them. Car audio security had both the things I wanted and at the best price I had senn anywhere else!
