Can anyone tell me what is the differance between a 141 and 188, and are thay interchangable?
Any help will be welcome.

I think you are not on the right place of forum, 188 is punto Mk2, 141 I dont know.

176 Punto Mk1 (1993-1999)
188 Punto Mk2 (1999-2005) Punto Mk2a, Mk2b (facelift)
199 Punto Mk3 (2005- ) Since Grande Punto

What's the context? I recognise some of those -- in Mkala's post -- as model designations, but not as gearbox types.

Hi the numbers reffered to are stamped on the top of the gearbox.
like a series of center pops. 188 xxxxxx and 141 xxxxx the only part that looks different
is were the upper gear cable lever is. On the 141 There is a opening that looks as if it has a pipe fitted on, and a cover over another opening by the plug in connection, on the 188 there is just a breather.

Sounds like the selector mechanism. I think the gearbox numbers are stamped on the front face of the gearbox.
