Hi, New to this. Engine oil warning light was a little late coming on. Local garage advised 'need a new engine mate'. Anyone recommend a recon engine supplier in the south east?

Which engine are you talking about?

You may find a crashed punto in a scrap yard with the right engine. The yard near peas pottage services off the m23 is quite big. Lots of stuff listed online these days too. Tried e-bay?

It would be nice if oil warning lights came on a bit earlier. From what I've read elsewhere it seems a universal rule that by the time the light is on, its too late.

Just had a quick look on ebay, there are several 1.4 8v Grande punto engines going for £200-400, not too bad.

Personally, I'd like to know what happened to the car it came from, idealy it would a perfectly tidy car that someone has hit from behind of something.

Lol yes the oil light is to notify you that your engine is FECKED.

How come you weren't checking the levels? Did you just buy it? Not been serviced lately?

Lesson learned the hard way. :(
