Hello,
I have 2001 Sciento which I love.
The other day the key code light came on after starting from cold, I pulled in and turned the engine off and restarted, all ok no keycode light.
Couple of days later, the car would not lock. Tried a couple of times before it locked.
Any information on why these things are happening? Are they related? And is the lock thing costly to fix?

Apart from replacing Camshaft belt, my Sciento has given me no problems for the seven years that I have owned it.

Cam belt is routine maintenance, not trouble!

Code light is unlikely to be related to central locking, but both issues could be symptomatic of failing earths.

My advice would be to route out the relevant diagrams in the Seicento technical manual (in the downloads section) and clean them up, put a little silicone grease on them, and re-attach.

copper grease or petroleum jelly are good substitutes to silicon grease but not as good.

CODE system is a very simple thing in ways of it has for wiring, total of 5(?) cables 2 power, earth, signal, and COAX ring
