You mention that you've put a deposit on a 500 so you must be having 2nd thoughts.
Space wise - the boot of the 500 is bigger than the MINI and with the seats down there is for a small car an amazing amount of room. Hopefully someone here or on the 500 section will give you the cc figures.
I did find that the split seats were handy on my previous 500s for going to the airport when I was carrying 2 passengers and their luggage with one 'seat' dropped.
Here's a link to a recent discussion on fuel consumption in a A500. On 'test drives' I've seen average mpg readouts of 23mpg to 32mpg but with an easy right foot you should be able to get it into the 40s.

the deposit i have put down was on a 1.2 for my wife
on the test drive i realised what fun these cars were so have decided to get myself an abarth.
however, i use it for work and need a decent load space.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

The figure you are looking for is 185 Litres which I assume is with with rear seat(s) up but I can't confirm this unfortunately. With them down there is an incredible amount of space so I don't think you will have any problems in that respect.

See below for a link to the A500 manual in PDF format if you want to get any more facts and/or figures.

I bought my A500 for the wife and she is over the moon with it. (y)

Boot space same for the A500 as the F500.

The only place that I could find a 'measurement' for this was on a US web site - it is referred to as Cargo Carrying capacity.Since Fiat is not listed on their web site I picked the figures of the MINI and the Clubman (bit of an estate). The 500 is certainly bigger than the MINI inside (there's a higher roof line in the 500)

ft3 (feet in cubic)
24 ft3 for the MINI
32 ft3 in the Clubman

Conversion...
24 = 679 liters
32 - 906 litres

So I would reckon 725 litres.

thanks for your help everyone.
what i would ideally like is the dimensions
ie, width and length up to front seats.
i need to fit some flattened boxes in and need to know if they will squeeze in.

If no-one else has answered this by the weekend I'll get my tape out and let you know the the measurements by Sunday PM latest. (y)

I will leave the litres of spce in the boot for some one else .....however regarding full cosumption it always depends on how hard you drive it flat foot the petrol will obviously be used but if your steady i have seen them near 40mpg!!!

As seen in the picture below:

The measurement from tailgate to front seats = 48"
The width at the front seats = 48" but narrows down to 40" once you get back as far as the boot area.
The height to the ceiling is approximately 36" front and rear.

Hope this helps.

Michael, I managed to find out that the boot capacities are as follows:

Seats Up = 185 Litres/6.5 Cubic Feet

Seats Down = 550 Litres/19.4 Cubic Feet

I did a quick search on the FF before I posted and found an old post (Click here) where someone has said the same figure that you've quoted. So I gave a conservative figure of 725 litres since I couldn't find an official figure at the time.

I have since found two 'official' figures - one for 550 litres and the other for 849 litres.

IMHO the first 'official' figure is incorrect and they should be asked to verify where their figures came from.

http://carleasingmadesimple.com/business-car-leasing/mini/hatchback/boot-capacity/

The larger figure is from Fiat500usa...
http://www.fiat500usa.com/2011/04/75-reasons-to-buy-fiat-500-over-mini.html
26. The Fiat has a longer luggage floor w/ seats upright, even though it’s shorter outside.
27. The Fiat 500 has a longer luggage floor with the seats folded down too!
28. The Fiat holds 30 cu. ft. of cargo w/ seats folded down; the base Mini only 24 cu. ft.

30 Cubic feet equates to 849 litres

At first I disbelieved this figure since it is 2 cu. ft. short of the Clubman but then I remembered that I could get an awful of 'stuff' into the 500. Plus the load capacity is at least 4 times bigger than the boot of the 500.

Article below which clearly states that the 500 is bigger than the MINI...

You might think the compact size and lightweight must have some drawbacks in cabin space and safety. Not really. The cabin of 500 is actually roomier than the Mini, especially for rear seats. It can accommodate two 6-footers behind another two 6-footers. Boot volume is also bigger, i.e. 185 liters versus 160 liters.

On the picture below the OH asked me to pick up a discounted piece of furniture a good 70 miles from the house and the sales assistant was amazed that it fitted in. I wonder what is the load capacity with the hatch open.:)
