I often get home quite late at night or have to leave early in the morning but setting and unsetting the standard factory-fitted alarm gives a beep that is so high pitched and loud that it is enough to wake the dead!

Does anyone have any idea where the siren is located and how I could adjust or muffle it?

It is so loud that I can not identify the location of the siren when I look under the bonnet.
