Had a fun weekend with several members from the dedicated Abarth forum (Abarthisti) which consisted of a day on the rollers followed by a night of camping, followed by a drive on some of Wales' finest!
DAY 1:
We all met in Deeside. 500's and Punto's and 1 Punto EVO too. It was a sight to behold, so many Scorpions in one place! We spent the time chatting, eating, taking pictures, driving eachother's cars, having exhausts fitted and then a quick run on the dyno to see what kind of power we were getting. The A500's varied from around 155 (standard + Milltek exhaust) to 177 (standard + G-tech tuning box) The Punto's were better still, getting between 215 and 235 BHP with the SS kit + the TMC tuning box. Mine came in at 166.2 BHP, with a standard car + the TMC unit. I feel after it's well overdue service, and the BMC filter that will be added during the service, the car will be running at close to, if not slightly higher than 170 BHP.
After a nice afternoon at the workshop, a few of us drove down to a campsite near Bala where we set up our tents for the night!
DAY 2:
We left the campsite in convoy, headed for Ffestiniog. Lot's of nice twisty B-roads, a few annoying tourists which were quickly eliminated! From there we went down to Porthmadog and onto the beach for a few shots of the cars. We then followed the west coast along the Peninsula all the way to the tip past Abersoch where we climbed a rickety road and looked down on Bardsey Island. Then it was back to Pothday for a fuel up where we all went our separate ways home.
Some awesome little roads around here, can't begin to explain how much fun these cars are on the right roads. Throw it into the bends and it just sticks with so much enthusiasm. I've clocked up nearly 30,000 miles now and I'm still enjoying driving the car! On the drive we weren't taking our time, but i still got 209 miles at 29.9 MPG, so even when pushing on, the A500 is still a very economical car. Got 46.6 MPG on the way home (took my time a bit then)
Here are a few pics and vids, enjoy!
