Just joined the forum for help on our drowned Panda, but caught site of the X1/9 forum which brought back memories of my first car, a black X1/9, registration BBX 7V.

I bought her in the summer of 1993 in Milford Haven, West Wales, after getting my licence and owned her for about 3 months before I had to sell her to buy my train ticket home :-( There was no way she'd have made it to Cambridge - dead starter, so always had to park on a hill, no reverse, a cooling system that didn't and one popped-up head lamp, one stuck down.

But I still remember the whine of the gearbox, the low seats, the smell of hot engine and that snarly exhaust

Now that I'm old enough to be able to buy train tickets without selling a car, I'm wondering what's become of her - probably gone to some scrapheap or rusting in the corner of a farmyard, but just in-case someone knows better...

according to the DVLA it hasn't been taxed since 01/01/1994.

I think it may have given its parts to help the cause then off to the great scrapper in the sky......
