Could somebody kindly point me in the direction of the diagnostic port for a 1.6 mjet eco? The car has been smoking a lot when doing a regen, (about once a day), but the 'check engine' message is now showing, just wanted to see what errors are showing, before it goes back to Fiat for the fourth time! Also is the cable the same as for the alfa 147 and if so will alfadiag work?

But on RHD, behind the little storage compartment to the right of the steering wheel.

Really? I unscrewed that as that's where it is in my alfa. There was some sort of plastic thing behind there, but it looked too small to be the diagnostic plug. I was expecting to find something that looked like a scart socket.

Then, have a look on the left side ...

Unscrew and then pull out the storage compartment below and to the right of the steering wheel. The OBD connector is there, but has a plastic cap over it.

On RHD, I think you have two connectors, you have the choise, on each side of dash-board.
