I've monitored my coolant level over a month and the level has remained the same, no loss + no gain....it is a brown colour, but has been since new with 3 miles on clock. Today my oil cap had a very small trace of white liquid in the lid about a cm across in size....is this a problem? The oil has gone down about 1/2 litre in 6000 miles.

The trace of white stuff is so small, but is it the dreaded mayonaise diagnosis? Coolant in oil etc.....or is this white stuff normal in such a small quantity?

Nope, its been cold out recently, it will be condensed moisture, thats mixed with the oil to form the mayo. Take the car for a good hard long thrash!

I bet you only typically do short trips.

are you sure coolent isn't red? should be red,green,yellow or blue, if it realy is brown rusty colour give it a flush and replace.

Its red....looked brown in garage but outside its red. The mayo has gone.
