does anyone know what the random plastic 'pip' is on the top of the dashboard between the two windscreen vents? 'cos I hoovered it off yesterday and it doesn't seem to have done anything. lol.

Sunlight sensor, to tell the air conditioning how much sun is coming through the windscreen. You've probably just removed the cover (surely you can rescue it from the vacuum cleaner).

Thanks Alex, I can and have rescued it. However, I was interested to know what it was and to figure out if i had done any serious damage.
