Has anyone retro-fitted a rain sensor to their car before?? And if so how easy/hard is it to do?
mine came with 2 as standard, they are on my face. They sense rain hitting the screen and send a signal to my brain to send a signal to my hand to turn the wipers on.
Take a look what I've done with MultiECUScan:Has anyone retro-fitted a rain sensor to their car before?? And if so how easy/hard is it to do?
not going to be an easy one need a new windscreen for a start (the sensor is in the screen) before you get to the electrical side of it buy some Rain-X or Aquapel if your too lazy to turn the wipers on
Hola Julio,
I am curious to see how you'll succeed with that. Is the rain sensor just a matter of enabling in MES ? What stack position will be used for 'auto', I guess you'll use the 'intermitent' one, correct ??
Regards, Bernie
Here it is! Take a look at the attachments. As you can see, the Arduino's wires fit like charm at sensor pinsHola Julio,

Hi BobLeeSwagger,Hi Julio
How did it go? Did you fit the sensor to the car?
I believe you need a silicon gel pad in between windscreen and the sensor
Thanks
Nice
I was just wondering if we can use a different model rain sensor. found same 3 pin rain sensor from a fiat stilo for cheap.
after all its the same signal sending to the body computer right?
Pls send me a link or photos of the sensor, I need the sensor S/N or ID.
Regards,
Julio.
I think I found the issue, the car body computer knows that my car is a Dynamic Version, and it might be the issue, because my car does not has Rain sensor by default, but the instrument cluster let me do it because is a newer version from another GP Sport or Emotion, wich it includes Rain Sensor. On the other hand, I think I has not sense, because my car, as Wikipedia says: "Dynamic version does not come with Cruise Control or Front Fog lights, but I was able to install them, so I think that my problem come from the OBDII adapter, and I think I will have to buy another more advanced than my Chinese ELM327 WiFi heheheUnfortunately, my body computer doesn't want to enable rain sensor option. When I enable it and then I do the proxy aligment, the body computer reports a fail at some point "Fail-Procedure Out of range, but, on the other hand, the dashboard recognizes the option and it enables on menu the rain sensor sensibility option. Once it has finished the proxy alignment, I go back to the enable/disable options menu on MultiECUScan 3.0 and it keeps disabled (Rain sensor and also I tried with dusk sensor). I also tested with AlfaOBD (PC and Android version) and it says "Fail sub parameter blablablah....".
I don't know if the body computer needs to be a different module or software since it doesn't leave me to, for example, enable "Comfort close/opening" and use the remote to open and close windows. Maybe replacing the body computer might fix that issue, but It will cost a bunch of $$ even if the body computer is from 2nd hand due to we need to reprogram inmo and key decoder, replace the chip from the new body and then use my old chip, or clone info to new chip (2nd and 3rd options are quite dangerous if you do it wrong)
I will keep trying, but for now is not possible. I can also try to use a MCU to emulate the ECU system and turn the windshield washers on

Julio.
