i've got a warning triangle light come up on my croma with an error message saying that the rear parking help and left side and right side rear window protection is unavailable.

i've checked all the fuses to the right side of the srteering wheel but they all seem ok.

does anybody know how to sort this or have had this on their cars.

i don't fancy taking this to fiat but i need it to be safe for my kids.

thanks for any help you can give me...

Tricky... if all fuses are ok I'd start looking for and cleaning up any / all earthing points at the rear.

hi Ffoxy, didn't think of that.

i'll have to strip back some trim inside the car later then to have a look, just a little nervous about setting off the airbags.

do you have any tips at all to avoid an airbag blowing up in my face.

i was thinking if i were to disconnect the battery would that reset the problems or will they still be stored on the ecu

:( Damn... on my GPS & Mrs Ffoxy's Stilo its OK to disconnect the battery for 30 mins or so before working on the system but something in the back of my mind is warning me about the Croma... one of the range is so spooked by anything being done on the Airbag system even the dealers bring in specialists but I cant remember if it was the Croma or not..

Try a PM to a Mod on the Forum, goes by the name of T14086. He can give you good advice. (y)

Edit :---- Just found that Thread its on a new Ulysse :-

So you should be OK after dissing the battery for 30mins or son on your Croma.

I am not sure about the rear parking help, but the rear window protection
could be that you need to set up the microswitch parameters on your rear electric windows. If you select the windows down and hold the switch for about 5 seconds, then select up and hold it for about the same time, it tells the window controller the stop positions for your windows. This should clear the message.

just tried that and wow the messages and gone even the parking sensor one.
i can't thank you enough :worship: that was such an easy fix.

That is a Top Tip about the Windows.

I was first shown it by Neil at NJS in Pershore and I have had to use it myself once already.

Is this a common problem with the Croma?

it's not a problem

body computer stores info on max and min position of the windows for safety reasons, if power to BC is disconnected than info is lost and need to be reprogramed

try to leave your window open and disconnect batery for 30min or so - you'll get an error message after reconnecting - normal thing

btw it's not only on croma like this, stilo aswell and some other newer fiats with window security

Sorry but got here a little late. The Croma window cycling is mentioned in the owners manual.

Similarly, I experience both this window warning AND indicator failures after disconnecting the battery and removing the rear light clusters and bumper to fit my tow bar.

On putting the rear light clusters back I had "indicator failures" registered on the dash. Foxed me for a while as everything was back and connected properly.

I eventualy found out that is took a good 10 to 20 seconds of both left and right indicator operation for the system/body computer to flush the missing/broken light and register the correct operation of the units.

Had me going/panicing for a while :)

All this modern vehicle electronics whilst excellent under normal operating conditions prove themselves to be a total nighmare in all other conditions.

the warning message for parking help is back, i've checked the fuses again and they are fine.
the wires look good behind the bumper and the earthing point in the boot looks like new
would a faulty sensor cause this message and my parking sensors to stop working.

Yes, but which one...

May be worth double-checking the connector behind the bumper (multiplug between the sensors and the car) in case water has got in or a pin is loose.

HTH.

We had a similar problem after fitting a tow bar. Warning triangle appeared with "Parking assistance unavailable" or words to that effect. Dealership replaced 2 sensors and it's been fine since.

ok thanks, was starting to think that.
do you know how they come out, is there a clip or does it just twist or something.

Definitely a dodgy sensor, but finding which one could be tricky if it's an intermittent fault. Yes they just clip out. There is a thread about these elsewhere on the forum.

The window issue isn't a fault. You usually get it if you have to disconnect the batter for some reason.

hi, you need to test each sensor, buy a mechanics stethascope off fleabay about £4 put it in reverse with ign on and use stethascope on each sensor, you will hear a ticking noise, whichever sensors are not ticking need looking at or replacing. - job done
