Need to replace the driver's seat belt on my 2002 Five door stilo to pass the MOT. Went to my local dealer and he said that the price for one seat belt is TWO HUNDRED AND FORTY POUNDS!!!!! Plus 40 quid to fit it. TWO HUNDRED AND FORTY POUNDS???? I said, totally aghast. He said it was scandalous too, but Fiat set the prices, blah, blah..... try a motor factors etc.
Of course he just said that to get me off his case 'cos he must know that when you try that you find it is a main dealer part only. The parts people I spoke to said that they have universal belts for forty quid that fit '98% of cars'...... but the Stilo is in the 2% they won't fit. The **** joke is compounded by the fact that there are different belts for the 3 door and 5 door model. Trying to find a 2nd hand one could take **** months. So I am going to have to pay those robbing cnuts nearly 300 quid just to replace a **** seat belt!
Fiat do this all the time. Make parts that are incompatible with generic parts then charge what the **** they like 'cos they have created a monopoly. There is absolutely no relationship between the manufacurer's cost of making a seat belt and the price they charge for it. In other words it is an utter, complete and total RIP OFF.
