Moi I just ran winsockfix for the second time before the guy came tonight, it reinstalled all the TCP and winsock stuff (again) and wiped all the manually given IPs etc. now it works like a charm even with DHCP.*jargon overload*
Now you can get the arguments you have all been missing

crappy ntl paul, where'd you get this winsockfix - does it do any good on XP pro? been having issues with net here at uni, but i think its more down to the crappily maintained network

No idea exactly what it works, I just read it reinstalls all the network software and settings. Not sure about Pro vs. Home but it says XP so I assume both?

Oh good point, I should have introduced myself.
