Howdy people.
I'm considering upgrading my car in the very near future for something more powerful and less bumpy. Now when i come to sell the car I have the dilema whether to break the car for parts or to try and sell it as complete.
Now obviously I will be able to sell most of Punto the parts on the Punto forums, but I need to know how much my engine gearbox and running gear is worth. The car is running very very well and shifts for the small engine that it has.
Here is the engine spec:
1242 8v spi
6 Speed close ratio Box
Dastek Unichip
Fully lightened/zero balanced bottom end
Total seal piston rings
Pistons acid bathed
Gas flowed head
larger inlet and exhaust ports
Polished valves
Lightened and Balanced fly Wheel
High Lift Cam
ITG Induction kit
ITG Oil Breather
Magnecore HT leads
K&N Vacuum filter
Powder Coated Engine components
The engine has covered 14,000 miles since it was re conditioned and installed into my car. It was modified and tuned by UAD tuning based in London. Full cost paid for the work by UAD came in at approximately £2000. The engine was run in for 1000 miles before it was taken above 4000 rpm.
To ensure that the engine was running correctly, a Dastek Unichip was installed and set up at G Force located in Aylesbury. It was rolling roaded showing the following power:
Power – 83.4bhp @ 5300 rpm (figure to flywheel- recorded @ G Force Motorsport)
The car is currently runing on my 1108 ecu with the Dastek set up to ensure that it is running correctly. I also have a spare 1242 ECU with coded box, coded key spare wiring loom door locks etc. This is ideal for anyone that has a car with a coded key. Mine as it is an early Punto does not have a coded key.
The engine has not been thrashed and maintained and services by myself Meticulously. The engine has no problems at all, starts everytime and is veryvery reliable. For an engine tuned to this state the MPG is still very reasonable.
So the question is, how much do you think the engine is worth if i decide to break the car. It would make an ideal transplant for a cinq/sei and would make for a serious rapid car.
Here's a picture....
I'd appreciate your thoughts and opinions.
Cheers Russ.
