the plastic that is used to connect the key to key ring is broken, hence keeps falling off.

should i just get a new key cut ? ... so that i have a key with a stable bit of plastic on it

i cant afford to just carry the key round incase i lose it.

you will need to have the new key coded for the imobiliser to deactivate when you put it in the ignition.

This depends on whather your car is a mk1 or a mk2, if its a mk1 the key cutters should be able to copy the code from your key. However if its a mk2 you cant get a coded key from a cutting place you have to go to fiat and pay around £100 for a new key.

if i took it to a key cutting shop would they be able to just take off the existing plastic and replace it with a new bit of plastic ?

cheers

any good lock smith should be able to clone your blue key, ask around in your area, shouldn't take long to find a place.

im gonna phone some up.

does it have a chip in the key ?

if so, shall i tell them it has a chip ,etc ?
